Corner Kitchen Catering started 13 years ago in our Biltmore Village restaurant. Since then we’ve helped throw some great parties for couples, families, and companies in Asheville and surrounding areas.
Creative, innovative, professional, reliable and fun– our company hopes to create more joy in peoples’ lives by providing restaurant caliber food and an awesome event-planning experience. For us, it’s all about the people– people from diverse backgrounds; people who are friends, co-workers, brides, mothers of brides, CEO’s, event planners, administrative assistants. We want to form a partnership with you to make sure every detail of your special event pleases people.
Joe Scully, Co-Owner
Joe is head chef and proud co-owner of two of Asheville’s most popular restaurants– Corner Kitchen and Chestnut. As someone who can’t resist throwing a great party, he would cook fancy dinners in people’s kitchens, do small weddings and generally make wonderful food happen without a home base.
After years of running the best catering operation he could out of an already cozy Corner Kitchen, Joe found the elbow room he needed in the lower level of 48 Biltmore Avenue (the same building that houses Chestnut). The space allows Corner Kitchen Catering to bring Downtown Asheville flavor to weddings, corporate events and galas throughout Western North Carolina.
Kevin Westmoreland, Co-Owner
Kevin is an Asheville native and co-owner of Corner Kitchen, Chestnut, and Corner Kitchen Catering. Kevin spent much of his childhood exploring what is now Historic Biltmore Village, having grown up less than half a mile from the site of the Corner Kitchen. A management graduate of UNC-Asheville, Kevin spent the first 20 years of his career in customer service related management before teaming up with Joe to open Corner Kitchen in 2003.
Kevin is passionate about making a positive difference in the community and volunteers his time as a board member for several local non-profits. He enjoys spending time with his wife Amy and children, Matthew and Lauren.
Josh Weeks, Co-Owner
Josh Weeks grew up in Eastern North Carolina where family tradition instilled in him a passion for entertaining, cooking, and hospitality.
Josh’s first official kitchen job came at age 15 at a successful, high volume family restaurant in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Throughout the next twelve years, Josh worked in and managed restaurants across the state, growing his knowledge and recipe book.
Through experience, Chef Weeks has learned the finer intricacies of Southern Regional, Pacific Rim, and Classic French cuisine. His wealth of knowledge and culinary creativity inspire our growing, changing and diverse offerings.
Vanessa Scully, Business Development Director
Vanessa is from the small island of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea. Her parents are German and Dutch so she doesn’t look as exotic as she sounds.
Vanessa moved to Asheville in 2004, and began working as a fundraiser for some wonderful non-profit organizations including the Asheville Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, and North Carolina Outward Bound. She is now the Business Development Director for Westmoreland & Scully and oversees Corner Kitchen Catering.
Business Development is a fancy term for Marketing, PR, Social Media, Business Connection and Strategic Insight.
Doug Dickson, Executive Chef
Doug began his cooking career in Texas, driven by his love of tex Mex and his mothers cooking. He graduated from Texas A&M in 2013. He moved to Asheville shortly thereafter to explore the products of local farms and artisans, while learning from some of the best farm to table chef’s in this part of the country. Doug has been working with Chef Joe Scully and Chef Josh Weeks since Spring of 2016. He lives in Arden with his fiancé, Ashley.
Stuart Dunn, Catering Director
Stuart has a wide range of experience in the Hospitality industry, from humble beginnings as an adolescent dishwasher to front of the house service including bartending, wine service, management, and of course server and floor captain. While living in New York City he attended the prestigious French Culinary Institute in 2009 to gain further knowledge of food, ingredients, and preparation. After a decade in NYC Stuart moved to Asheville with his family in 2010 and has since been steeped in the city’s ever growing scene of talented chefs and abundant farm fresh bounty. Stuart Dunn, an alumnus of the iconic Corner Kitchen restaurant in Biltmore Village for 3+ years has taken the reins at Corner Kitchen Catering as Director since November 2016.
